Built-in Assessment

All Virtual History simulations come with built-in assessment in the form of fill-in-the-blank quizzes and tests. At each level of the simulation students are presented with multi-media content screens. Each of these screens is followed by a short quiz. Students cannot return to the simulation until they have answered all the questions correctly.

At the end of each level, students are presented a longer test. This test is automatically graded and can be printed by the student. The student's tests and grades are saved along with the simulation and can be retrieved later by the teacher.

Pre-Use Activities
The pre-use activities consist of paper-based activities, which are meant to prepare the student for the simulation. They cover the who, what, when, and where of the subject being covered by the simulation. Typical activities include word matching, maps, timelines, and picture matching.

Post-Use Activities
All Virtual History simulations come with a series of post-use activities. The post-use activities are short answer essays that ask the student to compare and contrast what they experienced in the simulation to what they know through research about the topic being covered. A list of Internet links to research resources is provided to help encourage the use of the Internet.
